Quest for a planner that works!

Standard

Although I keep notes and lists and sometimes use the calendar on my iPhone, I still like to keep a good old-fashioned pen and paper planner.  I’ve tried many variations over the years.  The bound planners that come as they are – you cannot add pages nor remove them without somewhat ruining the ‘look’ of the book.  I’ve used the Franklin Covey type where you can insert types of pages that you need such as address book, daily appointment pages, weekly appointment pages, goal setting pages, and so on and so forth.

But for whatever reason I have yet to learn, these combinations and endless pages do not work for me.  I love to be organized and I love keeping notes and lists.  Somehow, those pages all end up being blank at the end of the year.  Now that 2013 is just around the corner, I am again on the outlook for something that will work.

organizerI am no big fan of the ‘mother’s planners’ either.  They seem to centre too much around appointment setting for the family and not enough on the daily grind and pages where I can simply scribble tidbits and organize the countless thoughts swirling around in my mind.  I want a planner where I can keep the mundane and keep the necessary information all together in one place.

Going through my desk today, I found at least 4 unfinished spiral notebooks all intended at the time for different uses and I think all started because the planner was not working for me.  Consolidate!  Organize!

Are there any combinations that work out there?  I am tempted to make my own sheets and tuck them into a good old 3-ring binder.  Hmmmmm…

I’ll keep on the hunt for now.  Perhaps I can manage to finally figure it out this year.
